What is the Sparkle Scud - Tungsten?

The Sparkle Scud - Tungsten is a weighted scud pattern designed to imitate freshwater shrimp and sowbugs. It uses a tungsten bead to sink quickly, making it a strong choice for trout feeding near the bottom in slower water.

What does the Sparkle Scud - Tungsten imitate?

It imitates Gammarus scuds, freshwater shrimp, and sowbugs, which are important food sources for trout in tailwaters, spring creeks, lakes, and other slower-water environments.

When should I fish the Sparkle Scud - Tungsten?

Fish it in tailwaters, spring creeks, slower seams, weed beds, soft edges, and stillwater areas where scuds naturally live. It is especially useful when trout are feeding low and you need a small crustacean pattern to get down quickly.

How should I fish the Sparkle Scud - Tungsten?

Fish it under an indicator, on a light nymph rig, or as part of a Euro/tight-line setup. Keep it close to the bottom with a slow, natural drift, or use small twitches in stillwater to imitate a swimming scud.

Why does the Sparkle Scud - Tungsten work so well?

Scuds are a steady, protein-rich food source for trout, especially in slower systems where they are abundant. The tungsten bead helps the fly reach feeding depth quickly, while the sparkle gives it just enough attraction to stand out without losing its natural scud profile.
