Thin Mint

The Thin Mint is a classic Woolly Bugger-style streamer with a mix of olive, brown, and black colors. It is one of the most trusted trout streamers because it has a natural profile, plenty of movement, and works in a wide range of water conditions.

It can imitate leeches, small baitfish, sculpins, crayfish, damselfly nymphs, and other swimming prey. Its blended colors make it a strong general-purpose streamer when you are not sure exactly what trout are chasing.

Fish it in rivers, lakes, ponds, deeper runs, banks, pools, undercuts, seams, and around structure. It is especially useful in low light, stained water, higher flows, or anytime trout are willing to chase a moving fly.

Fish it with strips, pauses, swings, or a slow retrieve. In rivers, cast across or slightly downstream and let it swing before stripping it back. In stillwater, count it down and retrieve it with steady strips, short pulses, or slow hand-twist retrieves.

The marabou tail gives it lifelike movement, while the olive, brown, and black color mix creates a natural buggy or baitfish look. It is versatile enough to fish slowly like a leech or actively like a fleeing minnow, making it a dependable confidence streamer.
