The Snake Pattern is built around movement, especially on the pause. Its long profile and swimming action give predatory fish a target that looks alive even when it is not being stripped hard.

This fly can suggest baitfish, leeches, eels, or other long moving prey depending on how it is retrieved. It is useful around banks, pools, undercuts, structure, and ambush water where trout or bass are watching for vulnerable movement.

Fish it with strips, pauses, swings, and slow retrieves. Give it time to work on the pause, because that is often when fish commit.
