Headbanger Sculpin
Sculpin pattern that sits on the bottom and moves like a typical sculpin. Tied with a size 2 lead hook. Due to weight of fly, we would recommend throwing with a 6 weight or heavier.
The Headbanger Sculpin is a heavy streamer designed to ride low and move like a sculpin along the bottom. The weight helps it stay near the zone where sculpins naturally live and where larger trout often hunt.
This pattern is useful around rocks, banks, undercuts, pools, deep runs, and structure where trout expect to find bottom oriented baitfish. Because of the weight and profile, it is best suited to a 6 weight or heavier rod.
Fish it with strips, pauses, swings, or short presentations tight to structure. Let it drop, crawl, and kick near the bottom like a sculpin trying to escape.
