The Green Tag Tungsten Nymph has been with us from the start, and after all these years, it’s still one of the most productive flies in our lineup. This fly has been able to stand the test of time not because it's trendy, but because it flat-out catches fish. This pattern brings together a combination of fish-attracting features: a hot green butt tag, tinsel ribbing for flash and segmentation, and a classic peacock herl collar for that buggy, iridescent look.
The Green Tag Tungsten Nymph is a fast sinking attractor pattern built for trout feeding below the surface. The tungsten bead helps it reach productive depth quickly, while the green tag gives the fly a bright trigger point in the drift.
This pattern is useful when trout are feeding deep but still respond to a visible cue. It can suggest caddis, mayfly nymphs, small stones, or general aquatic food while adding just enough attraction to stand out in moving water.
Fish it under an indicator, on a Euro nymphing rig, or as the point fly in a multi fly setup. It is a strong option for riffles, seams, pocket water, and deeper runs where a compact nymph needs to sink fast and get noticed.
