France Fly

The France Fly imitates a slim mayfly nymph, small caddis pupa, or general fast-sinking trout snack drifting near the bottom. It has that clean, buggy profile trout recognize without needing a full bug biography.

Fish it in riffles, runs, pocket water, seams, and deeper slots when trout are feeding below the surface. It is especially useful when you need a small nymph that gets down quickly and works as a searching pattern when the hatch situation is somewhere between “maybe bugs” and “trout are being weird.”

Dead drift it under an indicator, tight-line it through current seams, or fish it as part of a two-nymph rig. Keep it near the bottom and let it move naturally with the current. If it ticks a rock now and then, good. That means it is down where trout do most of their grocery shopping.

The France Fly works because it is simple, slim, and believable. It does not rely on being oversized or flashy. It just gets into the feeding lane and looks enough like a real aquatic bug for trout to eat first and ask questions never.
