Size 10. A great hopper pattern that isn’t over-sized like many out there. Foam will keep this bug floating and gives it a great segmented look. Fish as is or give the butt a bit of a trim to slim the body down. Great for when a smaller bug is needed in a hopper/dropper setup.
The Baby Hopper is a smaller foam terrestrial pattern for trout feeding near banks, grass, and summer structure. Its compact size gives fish a believable hopper profile without the oversized look that can turn off pressured trout.
This fly is useful when hoppers, beetles, ants, and other terrestrials are active but trout are not committing to larger foam dries. It also works well as a visible dry fly in riffles, seams, and pocket water.
Fish it tight to grassy banks, under overhanging cover, or through likely summer feeding lanes. It can also carry a small dropper when you want to cover both surface and subsurface feeding.
