What is the Super Stimulator?

The Super Stimulator is a high-floating attractor dry fly with rubber legs and a proven olive-and-orange profile. Redd’s carries it in sizes 8 and 10, making it a strong larger dry fly for trout that are willing to eat bigger surface bugs.

What does the Super Stimulator imitate?

It imitates salmonflies, large caddis, stoneflies, and general big attractor insects. It is not a perfect match-the-hatch pattern—it is a searching dry fly meant to look buggy, visible, and worth eating.

When should I fish the Super Stimulator?

Fish it during salmonfly, stonefly, and large caddis activity, or anytime trout are looking up in faster water. It is especially useful along banks, rocky edges, riffles, pocket water, seams, and broken runs where a buoyant fly helps stay visible and afloat.

How should I fish the Super Stimulator?

Fish it with a drag-free drift near banks, seams, and structure. You can also twitch or skate it lightly when stoneflies or caddis are active on the surface. Its buoyancy also makes it a good top fly for a dry-dropper setup.

Why does the Super Stimulator work so well?

The rubber legs add movement, the olive-and-orange body gives trout a strong attractor profile, and the larger dry-fly silhouette makes it easy for fish to spot. It is a confidence pattern when you want a surface fly that floats well and can pull aggressive eats from bigger trout.
