The Everything Bug earns its name by doing exactly that—it imitates everything. Built on the reliable foundation of a classic Hare’s Ear, this pattern is one of our favorite all-around searching flies, designed to match a wide range of subsurface food sources with a profile that trout recognize and trust. We’ve added a soft partridge hackle for subtle, natural movement—and then dialed it up with a black sparkle flash collar, a trick we picked up from a guide in New Zealand. That touch of flash pulls the whole fly together, adding just enough contrast to get noticed, without spooking wary fish.
