Balanced Leech

The Balanced Leech is a deadly stillwater and slow-current pattern designed to hover naturally beneath an indicator. By offsetting the weight forward, this fly rides perfectly horizontal, imitating a swimming leech or emerging baitfish—exactly what cruising trout expect to see.

The Balanced Leech is designed to hang horizontally in the water, giving it a natural suspended profile that works especially well under an indicator. Instead of dropping nose down, it rides more like a real leech or small swimming prey.

This pattern is useful in lakes, ponds, slow currents, deeper edges, and stillwater situations where trout feed on leeches or suspended aquatic food. It can also work in slower river water when fish are holding off the bottom.
